Confessions of a Millionaire's Mistress Will Their Hot Passion Melt His Frozen Heart When Celeste Prince Discovers Her Beloved Family Business Has Been Sold To Millionaire Benton Scott, She S Determined To Get It Back But Gorgeous Benton Sets Her Pulse Racing, And Her Carefully Laid Plans Lead Her To Just One Placehis Bed Benton Makes It Clear Right From The Start That He Can T Offer Than A Steamy Affair The Passion Is Scorching But Ben S Emotions Are Still In The Deep Freeze, And Celeste Knows That Only A Dramatic Collision Course With His Troubled Past Can Thaw Them his type of title just does my head in, because I go in with all these expectations that the only word likely to be true is millionaire and again, I m right Celeste, the story s heroine, doesn t even do me the courtesy of coming close to a bitterly dramatic scene where she calls herself a mistress, in a tones that let me know that she feels soiled and disposable, and there s nothing remotely confessional or tell all about the style I mean, couldn t you, if you re going to have confessions his type of title just does my head in, because I go in with all these expectations that the only word likely to be true is millionaire and again, I m right Celeste, the story s heroine, doesn t even do me the courtesy of coming close to a bitterly dramatic scene where she calls herself a mistress, in a tones that let me know that she feels soiled and disposable, and there s nothing remotely confessional or tell all about the style I mean, couldn t you, if you re going to have confessions maybe have an even slightly juicy secret Anyway, the story is set in Sydney, so I already have problems because it s not an exotic location for me, and then, good grief, there s a scene where the hero and heroine mow the lawn, and I m not sure that I m feeling smart enough to see this as meta More on that later.Celeste s dad runs a landscaping franchise business and as the story opens, she thinks she s the party she s at is for announcement that she ll be taking over the company She has a handbag and shoe store, but she s really looking forward to taking on the business and adding a high concept florist chain into the mix Instead, Celeste s dad is announcing that he s selling the business to Benton, and by the way Celeste, meet Benton, he s a bloke and super excited to do blokey outdoor things with powerful cutting tools Celeste can keep doing her lady handbag thing, and if she s really good, daddy will give her the money to open another little shop.Celeste manages to not pull out a knife and yell all men must die and I respect her for that She makes a deal with Ben for six weeks to prove that she can run the business and he should step away from the deal, and because the pic on the front has a couple kissing on a photocopier, I m thinking this is where we move into the sexy office romance flirting, with power point presentations to The Board and late night IT help to recover that critical spread sheet I am totally down for those things Gotta love a good spread sheet.Instead, Celeste and Ben explore a shed full of antique mowers, and then take the ride on out for a spin It s at this point that I cannot quite believe what I m reading Was there a competition to make the most boring thing sexy Is this irony I m so ambivalent There are actual descriptions of going over the lawn in a diagonal pattern and I m thinking, oh good call, there won t be those stripes if you do that, but seriously, what are they doing Get to an office and knock up some graphs Yell at each other Drink coffee and make notes in your personal planner Touch bits Or, I don t know, go and sit by a pool and drink and ogle each other and snark and kiss like normal romance couples I was too stunned to actually stop reading, but I was having all these flash forwards of all sorts of other outdoor things in gardens these two could do next I came up with erotic topiary, and was so unjustly proud of myself that I kept reading Just to see whether that would actually be a thing, and if it was, how it all worked out.Post mowing, there s some pretty satisfying family betrayal stuff and Celeste s origin story Celeste just cops it like a champ and moves on Celeste is totally used to being underrated by the men in her life, so Benton s attitude is no surprise He s routinely astonished by her competence, especially at boy things Ben s got these romantic notions about working outside and wearing shorts He s got an akubra He hasn t gone quite as far as to trade the sports car in for a ute, but it might be on the cards. He s mostly nice to Celeste, and doesn t have betrayed by the floozy going on in his background no, his angsty origin story is being a foster kid Apparently foster kids don t do relationships The thing about guys who are alpha and are all women don t do this is they at least have some compensating character traits Ben was real pretty and had lots of money, but he wasn t horrible enough in the beginning to have this satisfying transformation into the perfect lover I never really connected with what was going on with him.Ben felt fairly ordinary, and I think Celeste, who actually gets her global domination florist business started, and is amazingly reasonable and articulate about what she wants, could probably have done better Not bad. 3.5 I thought that this was an okay book I liked Celeste s character And an epilogue doesn t hurt and always makes an ending less abrupt. at first it was intriguing but then it s boring as hell I couldn t finish ehhhhhh este libro no es malo solo que estoy en la epoca del a o en que no tengo tiempo plop I registered a book at BookCrossing.com I registered a book at BookCrossing.com DNF All the males in this book are too
